Bye 2021 Howdy 2022- Zita

Bye 2021 Howdy 2022

Zita Perera Subasinghe

2021 you gave us a hard time
From the beginning to the end
Covid on the whole's a crime
And now you've lost every friend

We tried in our simple way
To keep an undisturbed mind
And get on with effort each day
And even a spread a word kind

Now we face another New Year
Let there be a kindly spell
Of good health peace and good cheer
So, impatiently, we don't yell

2022 could be just the best
Health restored and spirits on a high
Friends and family in the nest
Give in relief a great big sigh!

Zita may not be 100% health-wise but she values the blog and always has time for it.

Thank you Zita.

It is so lovely to see you on the Blog again with your trade mark rhyming poetry. The poems are so beautiful and remind me of the good times and when your presence in the blog 24X7 was much valued. Let us look to the new year and for better times for us all and for the Blog. At this time I remember most fondly Joe and the rest of the family and send everyone my best wishes.

I wish to end my brief comment reaching for the wisdom of Kalidasa the Indian Poet

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is but a vision.
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

  2. Zita, nice to see you breaking the silence of bloggers.Dark, nail biting days are ahead,in the Northern hemisphere. Our friends in SriLankans are enjoying the days with fog and mist during this period. Southern hemisphere is looking for the summer. Covid variants will hinder the progress an unpredictable period all over the World. Some may think the Good old God is punishing the sinners. It is left to the rational thinkers arrive at the conclusion.

  4. Dear Zita,
Lovely to see you here. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in a your typically creative, poetic way!
I have made some decisions for myself for 2022. I will start traveling again, with caution, of course. I refuse to be separated from my family and friends by fear of a mere microbe! From analyzing all the statistics that have been published, I know that if I catch COVID-19, my chances of getting hospitalized are very slim. My chances of getting injured in a car crash are far greater, and that doesn't stop me from zipping around and putting myself at the mercy of other lunatics at the wheel!
It appears that this virus will mutate and reinvent itself for a long time, just as the influenza virus does every year. We just have to stay ahead of it. If I have to take a booster every year, so be it. I will take it and carry on, enjoying my life to the best of my ability.
Emily Dickinson, the reclusive Amherst, Massachusetts poet of the 1800s said "We turn not older with years, but newer every day."
Zita, I wish you and your family the very best in 2022. And please join us from time to time on the blog, when you can.

    3. Hi Bora, I have a whole heap of F-1 races recorded. I read about the race in Brazil and I am waiting to watch it with my grandson, who will be with me at Christmas. That should be fun! Yes, I am also keeping tabs on the latest Covid mutation!

  5. I agree with all of you. Zita is such a courageous, optimistic but at the same time realistic person. Her poems are instantly recognisable. I keep in touch with her and I know how much she values the contact she keeps through our Blog (as well as other modes of communication). This is for our language scholar Sumathi:-
Zita 是一个很棒的人,我相信我们都希望她知道,在她与疾病作斗争时,我们的心与她同在. Zita shì yīgè hěn bàng de rén, wǒ xiāngxìn wǒmen dōu xīwàng tā zhīdào, zài tā yǔ jíbìng zuò dòuzhēng shí, wǒmen de xīn yǔ tā tóng zài.

If you have given up deciphering it...Zita is a wonderful person and I am sure we all want her to know that our thoughts are with her as she battles her illness
