The translations of the verses sung only in Italian are as follows-
A world where pain and sorrow will be ended,
And every heart that’s broken will be mended.
And we’ll remember we are all God’s children
Reaching out to touch you,
Reaching to the sky.
Needs to find a place,
Guide us with your grace,
Give us faith so we’ll be safe.

I am writing while listening to this beautiful voice of Celin Dion give us such a soothing message. This is what we need to hear and what we need to share. Our pain will be soothed and spirits lifted.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sending this song with such poignant lyrics and haunting melody. Celin Dion and Andrea Bocelli sing the duet so beautifully and with such great passion and hope. Just wonderful!!
Zita and Nihal, Thank you for your comments.
DeleteAs limited as we are, when events are beyond our control, all I can do is hope that a higher source of goodness will prevail over evil.
Iam sorry - I need to make a correction here-
ReplyDeleteThe translation of the verse sung only in Italian as appears in the video is as follows:
“We dream of a world without violence,
A world of justice and hope
Each to lend a hand to his neighbor,
A symbol of peace and brotherhood.”
It has not been possible for me to write about what I amunable to comprehend -
This song expressed what I felt and what I wished for everyone- It was my heart’s yearning for all humanity, and an appeal to every source of goodness in this universe, barring petty man-made divisions.
As Carl Sagan expressed in his famous lecture on ‘The little blue dot’
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. ......The endless cruelties
visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this dot on others, the endless misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their
hatreds -all on a mere “mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam” is just mind boggling.
This prayer in my mind is not of any particular religion but a wish and a hope for all beings.
May you all be well and safe.

A most appropriate song Rohini. This is on the list of my top 10 all time favorites of all types of songs. This particular rendition is the best and never fails to raise goose pimples on my rather sensitive outer integumentary!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post and hope you are well.
Thank you Mahen-
ReplyDeleteYes Iam well but “ overwellmed” !!
It surprises me that after seven decades of rough and tumble you haven’t managed to get your outer integumentary less sensitive. If you did- raises another question- can a pachyderm have goose bumps ??
Rohini, you have expressed the facts in a way that it becomes crystal clear what a dot in the universe we are and how fool hardy it is to destroy our little world. We need the friendship and good will of all humanity to make sense of our existence and move forward so after each of us is gone, our land, our world is there for the children and their children that follow. We need to hold hands, express goodwill, forgive, help one another and move forward with love and friendship to all. Zita
