Pramilla Senanayake in New York City

Pram is in NY these days. She met with Indra Anandasabapathy who is in Staten Island. Indra has sent me a few pictures.

Pramilla at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is front of the columns and lamps from Louis Comfort Tiffany's home, in Long island, NY. The columns were moved to the Met. after the Laurelton home fire.

Pram in front of American painter Thomas Sully's painting of queen Victoria ascending the throne. (Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY) The painting is in oil on canvas.

  2. In the Big Apple again!! Great to see you there Pram enjoying the arts. You’ve had better guides than most with Indra and Rani at hand.

  3. Pram, I agree totally with Nihal. You could not have had better guides than Rani and Indra. Buddhika and I had a similar guided tour way back in 1988, when we had a family holiday in their home in Staten Island.
Currently I am holidaying in Loosdrecht in the Netherlands. Last Thursday I delivered a lecture on Thalassaemia to the Slovenian Paediatric Association in Portoroz, at their annual congress. I am leaving for Colombo this afternoon.

  7. Louis Comfort Tiffany did not join the family jewelry business ( 5th avenue, Manhattan ) but trained in stained glass technique in europe and improved on it. Returning to the USA set up a flourishing business and built his home in Laurelton , Long island. He was also an accomplished painter.

  8. Remember the movie BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY, with AUDREY HEPBURN. Tiffanylamps are much sought after costing a large sum at auctions. Wisteria and the dragon fly are two of his recurring themes in the lamps.
