Creative Spot - A new song by Mahendra (Speedy) Gonsalkorale

Please click on the following link for Speedy's latest creation. Another lovely song with music, lyrics, keyboard performance (on his Yamaha Tyros 4) and singing, all done by one man - none other than Speedy himself.

The words tell a story. It is about two people who were in love and one had to go away, but although the other had hopes he/she would return, it didn't happen.
These are the words.

There was a time

There was a time
There was a place
When nothing mattered
Just the two of us
Hand in hand
We walked together

You had to go
Leaving me here
You said good bye
As I held you close
I knew you’ll come back
So I waited
As time went by
I never heard
My heart was broken

We came unscathed
Through stormy seas
So much to give
So much to share
You are my dream
I want no other
Please come to me
I’ll make you happy
Now and forever

There was a time
There was a place
When nothing mattered
Just the two of us
Hand in hand
We walked together

That was beautiful. Like the saxophone at the beginning which set the theme. Great melody and lyrics. Enjoyed the selection of images which went well with the words. Always a tinge of sadness when things don't workout and you have captured it well. No doubt it will pull on the heart strings of many of us who have been through those dreamy teenage years full of illusions and mirages. Thank you

  2. Thanks ND. Just to do it gave me immense pleasure but to know that it was appreciated adds to it. Some of my friends who heard this (outside our blog) are asking me why I keep churning sad stuff to which I have to say " I don't know" as to me it is the realities of life and the fact of change which gives me a sense of fascination and being essentially a "crooner", this sort of sentimental stuff suits me! But wait, a jazzy fast moving number is "under construction"! Thanks again and I look forward to reading your next contribution.

No matter what others say. Composers and writers have to go where they mind takes them. That was a brilliant piece and it will be well appreciated by our community. Hey guys!! please comment.

  4. All our appeals and pleadings to our colleagues to join in the fun by making comments seem to be in vain. As Sunil Perera of Gypsies fame says "I don't know why".

  7. Speedy, how beautifully sung! - Really enjoyed the entire composition-
The thought also crossed my mind as to why you sing sad songs - like Jim Reeves) but never dared voice it -As long as YOU are not sad that's fine ! Enjoy yourself- look forward to more-Rohini Ana

  9. Thanks Rohini. It is true that a lot of my songs have a tinge of sadness!. May be I need to go to a Psychoanalyst! But quite honestly, I am happy with my lot and most grateful for what I got although I can't deny that occasionally , I feel a bit low but I who doesn't, I may ask!

Let me put it this way " listening to the song it doesn't give me the impression you are about to slash your wrists". It is just a song about a common topic. It is a part of the tapestry of life. The theme is included in "soaps", films, musicals and even the operas. Don't punish yourself for writing a beautiful song. Compose another and put the record straight.

You are one of the finest products of our batch. An all round talent, an intellectual and a fine person in every sense of the word. Above all you are a nice guy and a good friend to many. I have lived long enough in this world to say there aren't many like you in the world.
I look forward to our meeting when the weather improves.
You have helped enormously to keep this Blog alive.
    Thank you

  13. Hi Mahendra!
That is fantastic! I have commented on you tube but let me repeat:
If sounds, words and pictures can create a heart-touching story, this is it!
