CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR WISHES TO ALL OF YOU
"Wish all my batchmates and their spouses a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From Chira".
Thank you, Chira. We had our ups and downs but we kept going on!
Thanks to all of you who contribute to the blog with posts or comments and the silent majority who look at the blog without posting comments.
The blog is more than a Web "thing"- it is a tribute to our unique 1962 Batch.
If you can spare the time, please go through it and you will find such a lot of wonderful memories.
We lost the man responsible for setting it up, and we shall be eternally grateful to him. May you Rest in Peace, Lucky.
All the best and keep batting! Mahendra Gonsalkorale

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for publishing my painting Wishing all our bathmates and spouses a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Though we have lost Lucky the Creator of our Blog, Mahendra is keeping it alive. We should be thankful to Lucky for initiating our Blog which keeps our batchmates together. Let him rest in peace. May he achieve the supreme bliss of Nirvana.
Chira
I join Chira and Mahendra in wishing all our batch mates, their families, and all the readers of this blog, joyful times with families and friends at Christmas and all throughout the coming year. However you choose to celebrate Christmas; lavishly, simply or not at all, may the Spirit of Christmas surround you, and bring Peace to your hearts and Peace to our World.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have put it better Srianee. Spot on
DeleteThank you Chirasri and Thank you Mahen for all your
ReplyDeleteefforts at trying to breathe immortality into the blog. I wish you and all our batch mates a glorious festive season.
FROM SURI
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Speedy and Chira for the sentiments you have expressed about Christmas.
Bunter you have captured the essence of Christmas in your comments.
I can do no better than to quote Gilbert O Sullivan
I'm not dreaming of a White Christmas I'm not dreaming of a White Christmas
All I'm dreaming of the whole day long
Is a Peaceful world
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
To all of you who live in fear
Let us hope that very soon
The peace you seek will then resume
I'm not dreaming of a White Christmas
I'm not dreaming of a White Christmas
All I'm dreaming of the whole day long
Is a Peaceful, Peaceful world
I would like to add
"Let there be Peace on earth, and let it begin with me
Let there be Peace on earth , the Peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father, children all are we,
Let me walk with my brother, in perfect harmony
These are words of a song we learned from maestro Lylie Godridge.
Some time ago I was able to train a choir of Doctors and their spouses and sing it in 4 part harmony at a Doctor's Concert of the SLM A
Wish all my beloved batch mates a Joyful Christmas and a New Year enriched by Peace and Contentment
Suri
Suri, thank you for your words of wisdom and good wishes.
ReplyDelete"Let there be Peace on Earth" is a wish we would all like to make.
Sadly, "civilised" Man, still looks to settle disputes by killing each other and destroying property in preference to honest dialogue. No winner- all losers apart from people who make loads of money fom Arms and other War related sales!
Mahen, what you said is a question I ask myself over and over again. "Sadly, "civilised" Man, still looks to settle disputes by killing each other and destroying property in preference to honest dialogue. No winner- all losers apart from people who make loads of money from Arms and other War related sales!"
ReplyDeleteIt is all about money, isn't it? We are really not evolved or civilized enough. When primitive men fought each other they had clubs and crude weapons. Now, the weapons are sophisticated and advanced, but mankind is not. We could go on and on...
Srianee, I agree that money plays an important role but what drives a lot of people is greed and power. I had the naïve belief that all humans are intrinsically moral beings - sadly not so. The current political climate is driven by thirst for material things and the power to dominate
ReplyDeleteWish all my colleagues the very best for the New Year!

ReplyDeleteThanks to Srianee, Suri, Sanath, Chira and Rohini Ana for posting your good wishes for the coming year. I know many more would have the same sentiment although they didn't post a comment. All the best and I hope I keep getting contributions to keep the blog alive.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the list of those who departed this life in 2024. The ever increasing list of our friends who are no more is a poignant reminder of our own mortality. Let this be a reminder for us to enjoy life to the full, do the things we have always wanted to do and be generous with our love and affection.
I wish all our readers of this wonderful forum a very Happy New Year. may you have good health and peace of mind.
Please continue to visit our forum and be generous with your comments. As is always said comment is free but facts are sacred
With my very Best Wishes

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the lovely painting of the candle and the Ivy. They look so grand and appropriate for the festive season. I was away in Birmingham for Christmas and could not comment earlier. I hope you will continue to paint for the blog.

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your lovely comment.
Though I have stopped painting I felt I should paint a greetings card as I have been doing it the last few years, as I wanted to wish our batchmates.
