This was sent by Sanath Lamabadusuriya to alert readers to serious unprincipled behaviour by some members of the Public.
This blog (created in March 2011 by Lucky) is about new entrants to the Colombo Medical Faculty of the University of Ceylon (as it was then known) in June 1962. There were a total of 166 in the batch (included 11 from Peradeniya). Please address all communications to: colmedgrads1962@gmail.com. ReplyDeleteThank you for highlighting an important issue at a very difficult and dangerous time. I do hope the government and public health warning are respected at all times.
Not heeding good advice is a universal phenomenon and a common human failing. When large numbers have not been vaccinated it becomes so important to take the usual precautions to stay healthy and alive.
Covid has brought out the best as well as the worst in people throughout the world. I do hope that resolution is imminent... one can always try and be optimistic (realistic?)
ReplyDeleteNihal and Mahendra, I don't think the problem is universal. As I have mentioned in my letter, the British public behaved very much better than our people. When the British government appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel, they readily complied. quite unlike our people.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but don't you think it is a matter of degree? the British Public as you rightly say, are much better behaved but even here there were pockets of protest and non-compliance. Discipline has never been the strongpoint in Sri Lanka, sad but true.
DeleteLama, what type of discipline one could expect, when legislators behave like a set of donkeys.
ReplyDeleteFunny, but true.

All of us are paying the price in a very hard way
ReplyDeleteRule with the gun;do you find the so called "Democratic Socialism"(Prajathanthra waadee,Samajawadee)?Karl Marx was right when he quoted democracy as a fool's government.
ReplyDeleteI openly mention that Sri Lanka is an excellent example of a failed democracy
