This is my latest Singing effort. Nostalgic as it reminds me of the good old Med Fac days.

Mahen
ReplyDeleteBrilliant piece of music that is deeply rooted in Malay culture. Brought back many happy memories of growing up in SL. We had a vibrant Malay community with their delicious food, pretty girls and lively music. We were immensely fortunate to have my good friend Revo Drahman to represent that colourful community. I remember his elegant house "Merdeka" in Guilford Crescent , Colombo 7, where we were regular guests at religious functions and festivals. The other Malay music I remember from those days is "Terang Bulang" and "Bengawan solo" which have the amazing ability to reach the inner soul and engulf it completely. I played these for Revo and his wife when they were my guests at my humble home in Hertfordshire when we reminisced deep into the night. Thank you Mahen for reviving those wonderful memories.

Thanks ND. As you of course know as a fellow contributor, it is always nice to get feedback. I am pleased you like it. I shall take up your suggestion and have a go at Bengawan solo.
ReplyDeleteHi Mahendra!
ReplyDeleteThis song is great, photos nostalgic, well played, well sung. This is not a comment on 'The Voice' but you could easily win it!
Thanks for the music!
