MEDICAL BATCH 62 REMEMBRANCE DAY - 2023

MEDICAL BATCH 62 REMEMBRANCE DAY - 2023 (1)

Message from Mahendra “Speedy” Gonsalkorale

“Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart” – Eleanor Roosevelt.

The 30th of May is fast approaching. This is the day we remember our dear departed friends from our treasured batch. We call this our “Remembrance Day.”

Since our last Remembrance Day, we have lost five more colleagues.

·         Zita Perera Subasinghe 5.10.2022

·         Victor Preethi H Rajapakse 15.10.2022

·         Mangalam Sabaratnam Krishnadasan 22.12.2022

·         Cecil Saverimuttu 26.1.2023

·         Janaka Chandana Fernando. 18.04.2023

While we recall with fond memories all our departed colleagues, I want to dedicate this year’s Remembrance Day, especially to them.

So far, we have contributions from Nihal (ND), Srianee and Kumar. I shall be posting them in the next few days. Please email me if you would like to contribute; I shall be delighted to add them. This again shows the value of maintaining this Blog initiated by Lucky, which sadly shows signs of atrophy.

Remembrance Day posts will appear daily for a few days.  Please email me if you would like to add yours. I shall be delighted to post them

  1. Mahendra, thank you very much for the very appropriate post. A minor correction; number 7 should read as L.D.H.K.Herath

I just want to say thank you for keeping the Blog alive when everyone else , including myself, wrote its obituary. It is very much alive and kicking!!
Let the last person to leave this planet switch off the light and the Blog.

  3. The ever increasing list of names and the photos bring them alive with a plethora of wonderful memories.

  4. Sanath and Nihal, without your help and support, the Blog would have passed away peacefully long ago!
We have 49 losses out of a total of 167 (including those who joined us from Peradeniya) which makes the mortality rate aboout 29.4%! Salutory! I wonder how many of our teachers have survived.

As Sadhuguru puts it -"As life is, death is. The awareness of this fact allows you to live life fully and intensely".

  5. Mahen, I am working my way backwards on these Remembrance Day Posts. Thank you for doing this and for keeping the blog alive. I think when we think it is breathing its last, somebody performs CPR and it comes alive. Thank you again my friend.
