Happy Christmas

Another
year passes with alarming rapidity.
We
lost three colleagues in 2022, making the departed total 46.

As
is traditional, we wish all colleagues and their families a most
enjoyable festive season and a Happy New Year.

has very kindly sent a beautiful painting which you can see and enjoy here.
The
numbers actively participating in the blog is dwindling but we shall keep providing
the food irrespective of whether it is consumed! We enjoy doing so and never lose
hope. Do not forget that our “family” is still of great value to a lot of us.
Any
articles and comments sent will make our day! So, please oblige.

ReplyDeleteChristmas for me is a time of personal reflection of Christmases past and of my dear parents and the extended family that made those times special. Many of them have now crossed the vale but their memories remain. On Christmas day my eyes do well up at times, perhaps it’s the overindulgence in the bubbles of Champagne.
Despite the passage of years the Festival has not lost its appeal. It is a time to give and to receive, to forget the differences, meet and be merry. But at times its religious significances is lost in the glare of the bright lights, merriment, cakes and the ale. A lowly birth in a stable in Bethleham changed the course of history and the lives of so many.
It is an interesting thought but a sad one that despite the existence of religions and philosophies for over 2000 years and human existence for a lot longer we haven’t managed to create a world worthy of those great teachings. As I write, there is a pointless war raging with tremendous suffering and loss of lives in North Eastern Europe.
My thanks to Chira for that beautiful painting and to Lucky and Mahen for the thoughtful posting.
