I'm not sure if you read the blog, but I hope you see all these wonderful comments. I really hope you get around to teaching those Americans how to play cricket! All the best. But I appreciate the talents of all our famous and not so famous cricketers and they have over the years put Sri Lanka on the map for such a constructive thing as sport. Well done! And thanks, and keep reporting as we feel great pride in your achievements. The other two were Elmo Rodrigopulle and Raja De Silva during Lareefs time at St. Thomas.
Lareef being a master at that craft, I still remember how batsman would get trapped by a first ball googley - like a deer caught in front by the headlights of a car.
His has been an amazing and steady flight.
A great family too.
IA
iahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04834328964175766121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-42147552567916163512018-07-13T01:36:24.437-07:002018-07-13T01:36:24.437-07:00Well done and Best Wishes Lareef !Well done and Best Wishes Lareef !Rohini Anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14415723772964781031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-70936340450251271302018-07-13T01:28:00.691-07:002018-07-13T01:28:00.691-07:00Wonderful to learn of the great deeds of yet anoth...Wonderful to learn of the great deeds of yet another celebrated sportsman in our batch.
Thanks Lucky and Sanath.Rohini Anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14415723772964781031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-18526300299143816592018-07-10T15:51:28.131-07:002018-07-10T15:51:28.131-07:00Another great cricketer from our batch, the others...Another great cricketer from our batch, the others being Cyril Ernest, Harsha Samarajeeva and Kiththa Wimalaratne. I can't think of any batch with so many accomplished cricketers. I have met Lareef many times after he went to the USA, both in Sri Lanka (at Reunions) and in the US. I have seen Lareef play in the 1st XI as a teenager mesmerising batsmen on the breezy wicket at Mt Lavinia which was a graveyard for visiting teams. I recall with such clarity Lareef's Googly whipping the bails off the unwary. It was such a pleasure to see him again at the Cinnamon Grand in 2012. This piece came at a most appropriate time when I was watching cricket in all its forms in this glorious summer at the home of cricket at Lords. I wish him good health and happiness in the months and years to come and good luck with his charitable work.Dr Nihal D Amerasekerahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02583970465135902534noreply@blogger.com
