RIP - Ravi (Raveendra) Nadaraja
Just received the sad news that Ravi Nadaraja passed away peacefully last night in San Francisco. He is the 62nd in our batch to do so. (old pic from sig book and new one extracted from photo sent by Srianee, probably 1992)![]() |
Block 62 and 1992 |
He was my classmate
at Royal and we both entered the Medical Faculty in 1962.
He went to the USA and specialised as a highly regarded Cardiothoracic surgeon.
On behalf of our batch, I extend my deepest sympathies to his
family.
His wife is Gowri, and they have two daughters: Dr Shiranthana, a resident of SF, and Raveena in Virginia.
I shall post more news as I receive them.
26th May. I have added a more recent photo sent to be my Royal Classmate Sivaloganathan. Ravi is his brother-in-law.

It brings me great sadness to hear that Ravi Nadaraja passed away. I remember him as a rather quiet but friendly person and a gentle soul. I last met him at the London Reunion of the 1990's when we sat together for dinner. We reminisced a great deal of mutual friends. He was still a quiet soul but now most elegantly dressed unlike in our faculty days.
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope he had a rewarding career and good and happy life in the USA. I send my deepest condolences to his family at this time of grief.
May he find Eternal Peace.
From Suri (message to Rajan)..Hi Patas thank you for sharing this sad news. I will always remember Nada as we called him for his lovely smile, his friendlies and his boyish good looks . Another Peter Pan in our batch. Please convey my deepest and heartfelt sympathies to his family. Suri
ReplyDeleteFrom Shanti Nalliah in a text. Very sorry to hear this news. Please convey my deepest condolences to his family. Thank you
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that we have lost yet another classmate. Nada was a very friendly person, greeting everyone with his cheerful smile. I didn't know him very well, because we were not in any of the same "sig groups" or clinical rotations. Nevertheless I remember Nada very well. I believe that Rajan (Patas) was in touch with him. I hope that he passed away peacefully and painlessly.
ReplyDeleteMy most sincere condolences to his family.
Thanks for sending me photos taken in 1992 including Nada. I extarcted his profile and posted next to the sig photo.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear the sad news regarding Nada. Please convey my deepest sympathies to his family. During the days at RC he was one year junior to me, as was Mahendra. Nada lived down 41st Lane (Dr. E A Cooray Mawatha), whilst I resided in the adjoining 42nd Lane. Pupa Sivananda lived at the top of 40th Lane, which was a cul-de-sac. Srianee Dias and Vedavanam lived down the adjoining Rajasinghe Road. Rajan Ratnesar mentioned to me to me that he also had lived down Rajasinghe Road, at one time. When Nada got married I was invited for the ceremony which was conducted in the Bambalapitiya Hindu Kovil, at about 4.00 am. As a medical student he drove a car to come to Kynsey Road. I don't think I met him after he left for the US. I gathered that he was demented during the last stages of his life.
ReplyDeleteAfter the Law-Medical match fiasco, most of us were suspended for two weeks, except Nada and Jimmy Wicks, who did not join us in the truck. I remember borrowing lecture notes from Nada, so as to catch up.

ReplyDeleteI wish to send my sincere condolences to Gowri and all members of Ravi's family.
Added a more recent photo of Ravi sent to me by his Brother in law who was a classmate of mine (and Ravi) at Royal
