I remember all the songs, all the people mentioned but some of the events that have transpired are new to me and it shows another side to this wonderful admirable human being. I hope the young up and coming artists in Sri Lanka learn something valuable from Nimal Mendis's experiences.
Zita
Zitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14985029776566371971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-79311956124910337942014-10-30T19:45:30.598-07:002014-10-30T19:45:30.598-07:00There is some resemblance alright. There is some resemblance alright.Lucky Abeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14193645922522446176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-11532007033303410362014-10-30T10:03:03.909-07:002014-10-30T10:03:03.909-07:00The photo of Nimal Mendis reminds me of Anton Ambr...The photo of Nimal Mendis reminds me of Anton Ambrose. The you will get an options window including the line "go to https://www.youtube.com/watch......". Left click on that and it will take you straight to the Youtube link and you can see and hear Des Kellly etc. Good luck!Mahendrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11940825368030959494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-26200826735960619472014-10-26T07:24:07.230-07:002014-10-26T07:24:07.230-07:00Those were our teenage years. Politicians asked us to tighten our belts. There was austerity for the masses and prosperity for a select few. Endless public examinations consumed our time. We were glued to Sunday Choice. Bill Forbes, Des Kelly and the Jetliners got our feet tapping. You mentioned Bill Forbes (Too young, Once More, You're sixteen, you're beautiful) and I had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago at one of our gatherings and he was so touched when we sang some of his songs. He didn't realise that there are people who not only remember him but also remember the melodies and lyrics of his songs. He always sends me a Xmas card since then, a very humble and lovely man. Some of the others from our generation that come to mind are Cliff Foenander (A little bit of soap), Desmond Kelly (Dream world, Cha Cha Baby), The Jetliners. Ah!! Those were the daysMahendrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11940825368030959494noreply@blogger.com
