These are merely pictures painted with words of a fast disappearing world.
Lucky, Sanath and I were Nugegoda chums. We went on holiday together and have wonderful memories. Whenever I visited Bernard we relived those carefree times. It was good to see Lucky at the Cinnamon Grand in 2012. We did catch-up some of the lost time.
NDDr Nihal D Amerasekerahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02583970465135902534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-31033218773858975612015-01-03T09:51:15.875-08:002015-01-03T09:51:15.875-08:00Nihal, you take us down the memory lane of our goo...Nihal, you take us down the memory lane of our good old medical schooldays recreating pictures etched forever in our minds and stirring emotional memories. As I was gazing at the computer screen and chuckling and laughing in an odd sort of way, my wife who was close by, inquired with a worried look "What is so funny?" She must have thought it was a sure sign of old age setting in!

ND has a unique sense of humour. But I suspect that some of his "I heard" stories are made up by him. I should know because ND and I were such close friends during our medical student days and spent a lot of time in each others' company. I had an opportunity to relive those days when I met Sanath de Tissera at lunch yesterday. Needless to say, I told him that this article by ND is a "must read" for him when he gets back to Perth after his short holiday in Sri Lanka.

LuckyLucky Abeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14193645922522446176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5647561953942883640.post-540832942253857282015-01-02T10:25:51.549-08:002015-01-02T10:25:51.549-08:00Thanks Mahen. The humorous bits are too numerous to pick but to quote just a few, -

‘kokatath thailay’. As its name implies it is the oil for all occasions and ailments. A few drops of this precious liquid will cure anything from piles to nervous diseases and from epilepsy to gas in the belly.

The crows above are a menace to this open air Hair Dressing Salon the customers and the barbers being constantly bombarded with their excrement.
