  2. Thank you Lucky,
I had no difficulty in recognising,JC,Sura,Harsha,Lama and Pram with her head only focus by the cameraman.
I,wonder the lady on to the right of Sura is Srianee. No idea about the lady in front of Harsha.
May,I quote some words in French for Srianee?
    Prends garde,mon Srianee.Merci madame.

  3. Lucky, it is good to see you and Mangala keeping up your tradition of regular hosting of Batchmates when an overseas colleague is on a visit. Enjoy your trip the USA.

  4. Good to see old friends feasting with the fingers and enjoying life. I hope very much I get a chance to see Harsha and Sanath on their migration north-west for the summer. Pram is a regular to London and lives round the corner from me and no doubt we will meet. Hi To JC, Sura, Bunter and the generous hosts Lucky and Mangala.

  5. This is Zita. I truly appreciate seeing photos of get-togethers of our batch mates. This is one way for us to 'meet' our old friends. We can almost feel the friendly atmosphere and even 'taste' the food looking at these photos. It's amazing that all of you look so good, and it's almost as though we were seeing you during our batch days. Thanks for sharing these photos with us. From Zita

  7. Lucky, it was wonderful to meet all these friends at your lovely home. Thank you (and Mangala) for getting us together. The food was delicious as well. I think some of you have misidentified Senarath Jayatilleka as Harsha Samarajeeva! Harsha was unable to make it. The lady in front of Senarath is his wife, Hemantha. And yes, I am sitting next to Sura.
These two months in Sri Lanka were "wunderbar" but busier than usual. I arrived later than I usually do in January and as a result missed Mahen and Rohini Abhayaratne by a few days 😢 Thanks to my very social friends from my Ladies' College days and Medical College days, I met many of them more than once. I feel blessed. Two friends from the US also came over to visit which motivated me to travel outside Colombo with them. Attempting to teach them a few Sinhala phrases was a blast! They managed "Hari, hari," with an appropriate waggle of the head. They also learned the art of stopping traffic on busy streets with an outstretched hand before crossing the road. I hope they don't try it in New York City!

  9. Apologies to Senarath for not recognising his distinguished hair and profile. The last time we met was many many years ago at his house when he hosted some batch friends. Hemantha and Senarath gave us such a splendid spread it was an evening to remember. Hope we have the good fortune to meet again.

  11. I,too mistook,Senarath for Harsha.I met Senarath, for the last time at Tangalle bus halt.
Senarath was either on his way to Kataragama or was returning from a pilgrimage. He was so nice to recognise me and to have a word with me.I,am sure he returned from UK,after having his Fellowship in Radiotherapy.I,told him about what I was doing at that time and also hinted about my intention to emigrate to UK.He was not happy about the set up in UK at that time.
While,I was in UK,I met Bertram Nana at Birmingham. He had a nice word about Senarath for looking after our own Prof.Lester Jayawardene. The moment,Senarath ,recognised Prof, waiting in the queue with the rest of the patient;Senarath had got up from his seated and brought from strait away.He had treated Prof with dignity and respect(in Hindu philosophy, one treats his her teacher with greater respect than to his/her parents)Well done!Senarath. If you are reading the blogs, you should certainly recollect those events.

  12. I too noticed that a lot of you had misidentified our guests. But I didn't bother to point out the errors because I was sure that someone else will do the needful. Now, I see that Srianee had done that.
